Sunita Ahuja, wife of Bollywood star Govinda, has voiced her frustration with the ongoing nepotism debate in the film industry. She recently opened up about how her daughter, Tina Ahuja, is struggling to find work despite being talented and eager to act.
While speaking to a media outlet, Sunita expressed her disappointment, saying that opportunities in Bollywood are mostly reserved for a select group of star kids. She feels this is unfair to others who are equally deserving but are left waiting for their turn.
Sunita pointed out how difficult it has become for outsiders or even those with limited connections to get a break. “Tina is ready to work if she gets the right opportunity,” Sunita said. “Why shouldn’t she? She loves acting. But give her a chance. Stop keeping work within one group. Look around. There are so many people waiting for a platform.”
Her words have struck a chord with many, reigniting the debate about nepotism in Bollywood. This isn’t the first time someone has spoken out about how the industry works. Over the years, the conversation has grown louder, especially with social media bringing such issues to light.
Tina’s Acting Career
Tina Ahuja, who made her debut with Second Hand Husband in 2015, hasn’t been very active in films since then. The movie didn’t do well at the box office, which could be one reason she’s struggled to secure new projects. However, Sunita firmly believes Tina has what it takes to succeed, provided someone gives her a fair shot.
“She is not asking for favors,” Sunita explained. “She’s ready to prove herself. But the problem is, if you aren’t part of the inner circle, no one notices your talent. That’s why only a handful of faces are seen over and over again in movies.”
The Bigger Picture
Nepotism has been a hot topic in Bollywood for years. Many feel that star kids get easy access to opportunities while outsiders and lesser-known talents are sidelined. Even actors like Kangana Ranaut and Sushant Singh Rajput have spoken about how challenging it is to make a name without strong backing.
Sunita echoed these sentiments, adding that the industry needs to create more space for everyone. “Bollywood isn’t just about five or ten families. There are many talented people out there who are waiting for their moment,” she said.
She also urged filmmakers to step out of their comfort zones and give new faces a chance. “You never know who might surprise you. Sometimes, the best talent comes from the most unexpected places,” she added.
What’s Next For Tina?
Despite the challenges, Tina hasn’t given up on her dreams. According to Sunita, she’s still open to taking up acting projects and is constantly improving her craft. “She’s passionate about what she does, and she’s not going anywhere,” Sunita said.
The conversation around nepotism is unlikely to die down anytime soon. But with voices like Sunita’s speaking up, it’s clear that the call for change is growing louder.
For now, Tina remains hopeful. And who knows? Maybe her big break is just around the corner.
