Coolie is shaping up to be one of the loudest explosions in Indian cinema this year. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film throws Rajinikanth into a high-octane story about a mysterious man taking on a corrupt syndicate that’s bleeding a port town dry. The mood? Gritty. The action? Relentless. The star power? Off the charts.
The cast is stacked like a festival platter — Nagarjuna, Aamir Khan, Shruti Haasan, Sathyaraj, Upendra, and Soubin Shahir all sharing the screen with the Superstar. Shruti Haasan has been getting a lot of early praise, but make no mistake — Rajini is the magnet here.
Filming spanned Chennai, Hyderabad, Visakhapatnam, Jaipur, and even Bangkok. Lokesh didn’t just build sets — he built an atmosphere. The story breathes through bustling ports, chaotic streets, and shadowy corners where deals are struck in whispers and broken with bullets.
Music is by Anirudh Ravichander, and the soundtrack has already found its way into playlists thanks to tracks like Chikitu, Monica, and Powerhouse. The audio launch at Chennai’s Nehru Stadium turned into a mini-concert, with fans treating it like the movie had already released.
Release day is 14 August 2025, but the box office party has already started. Advance bookings crossed ₹20 crore before the film even hit screens. Industry buzz says the opening weekend could smash ₹110 crore. This puts Coolie in a head-to-head clash with War 2, making the holiday weekend a battlefield.
Early watchers are calling it Rajinikanth’s best since Kabali. The fights land heavy. The dialogues carry bite. And Lokesh Kanagaraj seems to have balanced raw action with that larger-than-life presence only Rajini can bring.
