The smartphone market in India is preparing for another budget-friendly 5G device. Xiaomi is set to launch the Redmi 15 5G in the country on August 19, 2025. The phone has already made its debut in other global markets, and now Indian buyers are waiting for its official pricing and availability. Based on global listings, the Redmi 15 5G is expected to be priced between ₹10,000 and ₹15,000, which makes it a strong competitor in the budget 5G category.
Expected Price in India
The company has not yet confirmed the exact Indian price. However, reports from Malaysia show that the 8GB RAM + 256GB storage variant is priced at MYR 729, which is around ₹15,000 in Indian currency. This indicates that Xiaomi may launch the device in India in the same affordable range. Experts believe the base model could start closer to ₹10,000, making it an attractive option for first-time 5G buyers.
Display and Design
The Redmi 15 5G comes with a 6.9-inch Full HD+ IPS LCD screen. The display supports a 144Hz refresh rate, which is usually seen in more expensive phones. This feature will make the phone smoother for gaming and video viewing. The display is also TÜV-certified, which means it reduces blue light and eye strain. Xiaomi has also included DC dimming and Wet Touch Technology 2.0, allowing the screen to work even when fingers are wet.
The design of the phone includes a quad-curved body for a better grip. The rear camera island is made from aerospace-grade metal, giving it a premium look. The phone also has an IP64 rating, making it resistant to dust and light splashes. Buyers will get three color choices: Midnight Black, Frost White, and Sandy Purple.
Battery and Charging
One of the main highlights of the Redmi 15 5G is its 7,000mAh battery. The company has used silicon-carbon anode technology, which allows more energy storage in a slim design. The phone supports 33W fast charging, which can quickly refill the battery, and 18W reverse charging, which lets the device act as a power bank for other gadgets. Xiaomi has also introduced a unique Hibernation Mode, where the phone can last up to 13.5 hours on just 1% battery.
Performance and Software
The phone is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 6s Gen 3 chipset. This processor supports 5G connectivity and ensures smooth performance for daily tasks and gaming. Buyers will get up to 8GB RAM with the option of memory extension, and up to 256GB storage.
On the software side, the Redmi 15 5G will run on Xiaomi HyperOS 2.0, which is based on Android 15. The device will also include Google’s latest features such as Gemini AI and Circle to Search. This makes it one of the first budget phones to launch with Android 15 in India.
Camera Setup
The Redmi 15 5G will come with a dual rear camera setup. The main camera is a 50-megapixel sensor, while the secondary camera is expected to be either a depth or macro lens. On the front, there is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. Xiaomi has added several AI-powered camera tools to improve picture quality, especially in low-light conditions.
Market Position
With these features, the Redmi 15 5G is targeting users who want a long-lasting battery, large display, and 5G performance without spending too much. The price range makes it a direct rival to other budget 5G phones from Realme, iQOO, and Samsung.Final Words
The official launch in India will reveal the final price and sale offers. If Xiaomi manages to keep the cost under ₹15,000, the Redmi 15 5G could become one of the most popular budget 5G smartphones in 2025. With its massive battery, fast display, and modern software, the phone is expected to attract a large number of young buyers in India.
