Hrithik Roshan Nervous About ‘Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai’ Re Release After 25 Years
Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan recently opened up about his mixed feelings regarding the re-release of his iconic debut film, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. The actor, who has since become one of India’s most celebrated performers, confessed to being a little apprehensive about how the movie will be perceived by today’s audience. This candid admission was made at the trailer launch event of The Roshans, a Netflix docu-series exploring the lives and careers of his illustrious family.
“What Were We Thinking Back Then?”
During the event, Hrithik was shown a still from the film where he’s seen holding a guitar—a moment that instantly brought back memories. Laughing nervously, he said, “I’m scared. The movie is releasing again after 25 years, and I keep thinking, what if people walk out of theaters and say, ‘What were we thinking back then?’”
The film, directed by his father, Rakesh Roshan, had been a massive success when it first released in 2000. It not only made Hrithik an overnight sensation but also set a benchmark for romantic dramas in Bollywood. However, Hrithik said he’s worried the film might not hold up to today’s standards, given how much cinema and storytelling have evolved over the years.
A Night of No Sleep
Hrithik also shared a behind-the-scenes story that still makes him laugh. He recalled being told, just a day before filming the song “Pyaar Ki Kashti Mein,” that he’d have to look like he was playing the guitar. “I didn’t know how to play it,” Hrithik admitted. “But I couldn’t just stand there looking clueless either.”
Determined to get it right, he stayed up all night practicing the movements. “I kept imagining the sound of the strings and making random finger movements,” he said. “I must’ve looked absolutely crazy!” He added that even though it was stressful at the time, moments like these taught him the importance of hard work and quick learning on set.
Despite his nerves, Hrithik acknowledged the overwhelming excitement fans have shown for the re-release. Social media has been buzzing with posts and comments from people eager to relive the magic of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai. For many, the film is a nostalgic treasure—a love story that defined an era.
Hrithik joked, “Some people will come to see it again, not for the story, but to laugh at my dancing or my hairstyle.” He added with a smile, “But hey, at least they’re coming!”
A Big Year for Hrithik
2025 is shaping up to be a big year for Hrithik. Apart from the re-release of Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai, fans are looking forward to the Netflix series, The Roshans, which promises an inside look into the family’s personal and professional journeys. The series will cover everything from Rakesh Roshan’s legendary career to Hrithik’s rise to superstardom and the challenges they’ve faced along the way.
Why Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai Matters
For those who remember the film’s original release, Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai was more than just a movie. It was a cultural phenomenon that gave Bollywood one of its brightest stars. With its memorable songs, breathtaking locations, and a love story that struck a chord, it’s no wonder the film continues to be celebrated even after 25 years.
Hrithik’s humility and honesty about the re-release make it even more special for fans. Whether people come to admire the movie or laugh at its quirks, it’s clear that Kaho Naa Pyaar Hai still holds a special place in Bollywood history—and in the hearts of audiences.
For now, Hrithik is taking it one day at a time, hoping the love that launched his career 25 years ago will still resonate with fans today.
