Pushpa 2 Breaks ₹1,700 Crore Barrier Worldwide, Joins Elite Club with Dangal, Baahubali 2
Allu Arjun’s Pushpa 2: The Rule is unstoppable at the box office. The high-octane action drama has crossed the ₹1,700 crore mark globally, making it one of the highest-grossing Indian films of all time. This massive milestone puts the film alongside iconic blockbusters like Dangal and Baahubali 2: The Conclusion.
The film, directed by Sukumar, has kept the audience hooked since its release. It started strong, earning ₹282.91 crore on its first day. By the end of its opening weekend, the movie had collected ₹781.33 crore worldwide. The first week’s total reached ₹1,032 crore, followed by ₹1,479.06 crore in the second week and ₹1,664.38 crore in the third. On day 25, the film added another ₹18.95 crore to its tally, taking the worldwide total to a whopping ₹1,709.63 crore.
A Record-Breaking Run in India
Domestically, Pushpa 2 has performed exceptionally well, raking in ₹1,157.35 crore so far. Of this, the Hindi version contributed ₹753.9 crore, while the Telugu version earned ₹324.99 crore. The Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada versions made ₹56.75 crore, ₹14.11 crore, and ₹7.6 crore, respectively.
The film’s Hindi shows had an impressive 34.58% occupancy, while Telugu shows logged 29.11% on December 29, according to Sacnilk. The movie also saw a significant 28% jump in daily collections on the domestic front, which is remarkable considering the competition from other releases.
Competing with New Releases
Despite new films hitting theaters, Pushpa 2 remains unfazed. Disney’s Mufasa: The Lion King has collected ₹101.85 crore so far, but it hasn’t dented Pushpa 2’s box office success. Movies like Vanvaas and Baby John struggled to make an impact, earning ₹4.68 crore and ₹28.65 crore, respectively.
Malayalam superstar Mohanlal’s Barroz, which released on Christmas, also faced a tough run, collecting only ₹8.38 crore in five days. On the other hand, Unni Mukundan’s Marco is doing better, with ₹35.8 crore in its first 10 days.
The film’s gripping storyline, strong performances, and pulsating action sequences are some of the factors behind its massive success. Allu Arjun’s portrayal of Pushpa Raj, a sandalwood smuggler navigating a world of police crackdowns and rivalries, has won him praise from fans and critics alike. Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, and Jagapathi Babu add depth to the story with their standout performances.
The movie’s dialogue, music, and action scenes have also struck a chord with the audience. Social media has been flooded with clips of fans cheering, dancing, and even recreating iconic scenes.
What’s Next for Pushpa 2?
Trade analysts predict that Pushpa 2 could soon cross the ₹2,000 crore mark. With its steady performance at the box office, this doesn’t seem far-fetched. Fans are also eagerly waiting to see if the makers will add new scenes for its upcoming OTT release, as some reports suggest.
Film critic Taran Adarsh summed it up well, saying, “Despite multiple new releases, Pushpa 2 remains unaffected and unshakable. Its staying power is incredible.”
It’s safe to say that Pushpa 2 has cemented its place in Indian cinema history. With every passing day, it continues to prove why it’s a phenomenon worth talking about. If you haven’t watched it yet, maybe it’s time to head to the nearest theater and experience the magic yourself!
