Richa Chadha Shares How Ali Fazal Struggled For Paternity Leave After Daughter’s Birth

Actors Richa Chadha and Ali Fazal became proud parents last year to their daughter, Zuneyra Ida Fazal. Talking about Ali’s experience, Richa revealed that when he requested time off to be with her and their newborn, it wasn’t taken seriously. “Ali asked for paternity leave after we had our baby, but he didn’t really get it,” she shared. “People were like, ‘Haha, you really want that? Okay, maybe a week or two.’”

Richa called it a stroke of luck that Ali’s shooting schedule got delayed for unrelated reasons. “It was a miracle his shoot got pushed, so he could stay with me. I can’t describe how much that helped,” she said.

She highlighted how difficult those first few weeks were. From sleepless nights to physical pain, everything felt overwhelming. “It’s terrifying for a new mom. There’s no sleep, your body is healing, and the brain fog is real. Having your partner around makes a world of difference,” she explained.

The Struggle of Finding Childcare

Richa also touched on the challenges parents face when it comes to childcare in India. “Not everyone can afford amazing childcare,” she said. She believes more women in leadership roles could drive changes in policies and create a better work environment for parents.

The actress emphasized how important it is for workplaces to support new parents. “It’s not just about women needing help. Fathers also want to be involved, but they’re not given enough room to step up,” Richa said.

A Special Bond

Richa and Ali, who first met on the sets of Fukrey, tied the knot in October 2022. They announced the birth of their daughter with a heartfelt Instagram post last year. “Doing a collab post to announce the biggest collab of our lives!!” the couple had written.

Their baby girl, Zuneyra, has kept them on their toes. “She keeps us very, very busy,” they had shared. Fans showered the family with love and blessings.
