Buchi Babu Tournament 2025 Begins With Exciting Performances

The 2025 Buchi Babu Invitational Tournament has started in Chennai. The tournament began on August 18 and will end on September 9, 2025. It is one of the oldest and most respected tournaments in Indian domestic cricket. The event is organised by the Tamil Nadu Cricket Association (TNCA). The Buchi Babu tournament was first held in 1909–10 in memory of M. Buchi Babu Naidu, who is also called the “Father of Madras Cricket.” Over the years, it has grown into a prestigious competition that features teams from across India.Tournament Format

The 2025 edition has 16 teams, divided into four groups. Each group has four teams.

Group A: TNCA President’s XI, Himachal Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Maharashtra
Group B: Railways, Jammu & Kashmir, Baroda, Odisha
Group C: TNCA XI, Mumbai, Haryana, Bengal
Group D: Hyderabad, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand

The league stage matches are of three days. In this stage, the first innings will be of 90 overs and the second innings will be of 45 overs. The knockout matches including semifinals and final will be played as four-day matches.
