Men of War II dropped on May 15, 2024. Developed by Best Way and published by Fulqrum Publishing, it’s a real-time tactics game that mixes single-player, co-op, and multiplayer. The focus is on gritty, slow-burn strategy, not flashy run-and-gun action.
Critics didn’t land on the same page. Some called it the most realistic RTS they’ve played, with deep tactical control and intense battles. Others saw it as clunky, with AI that sometimes trips over itself. It’s the kind of game where you can feel brilliant after pulling off a perfect ambush… or furious when your soldiers take the long way around and walk into enemy fire.
IGN Italy called it “the deepest” RTS on the market right now. Shacknews liked the campaign’s size and variety. GamesHorizon said it’s hard and often frustrating, but the payoff is worth it. PC Gamer summed it up as a flawed but rewarding gem.
The praise isn’t without pushback. Many players complained about infantry pathfinding and units that need constant micromanagement. Some dislike the lack of certain tactical options like splitting squads. The always-online requirement also rubbed a few the wrong way.
On Steam, reviews are mixed. About 63% of all players gave it a thumbs-up, but recent feedback is split down the middle. Some call it a dream game for strategy fans. Others feel it’s a missed opportunity, pointing to design decisions that slow the fun.
Visually, it’s sharp. Explosions look weighty, tanks roll with menace, and battlefields feel alive. But that polish doesn’t fully cover the rough edges in mechanics and balance.
Men of War II is not for casual dabblers. It’s for players willing to put in the time, learn the systems, and accept the occasional headache for the sake of big tactical wins.
