Saif Ali Khan Calls Bandra Attack a Burglary Gone Wrong
Saif Ali Khan has finally spoken about the terrifying knife attack that happened at his Bandra home on January 16. The actor believes the incident was not planned and says it was likely a burglary that took a bad turn. Despite suffering serious injuries, he has chosen not to let the event change his way of life.
The Shocking Incident
The attack happened at Saif’s house, which he shares with his wife Kareena Kapoor and their two children. The intruder, identified as Mohammad Shariful Islam Shehzad, allegedly broke in with the intention of stealing. However, things quickly got out of hand, and Saif ended up with multiple stab wounds.
According to reports, the attacker had a knife and was confronted by Saif himself. In the chaos, the actor was stabbed in his thoracic spine. He was immediately taken to Lilavati Hospital, where doctors performed surgery to remove a piece of the knife from his body. Two of his injuries were deep cuts, while the rest were minor.
Saif’s Reaction: ‘That Poor Guy’s Life is More Screwed Than Mine’
In his first interview since the attack, Saif shared his thoughts with the Delhi Times. Despite what happened, he doesn’t feel the need to increase security or keep weapons at home.
“Nothing will change. If you start doing that, then where do you stop? I don’t feel like I’m under any real threat. It wasn’t a planned attack. I believe it was just a burglary that went horribly wrong. That poor guy’s life is more screwed than mine,” he said.
Saif also reflected on how he might have handled things differently. “If I were in that room again, I think I’d just turn on the lights and ask him, ‘Do you even know whose house this is?’ Maybe he would realize his mistake and say, ‘Oh no! I got the wrong place.’ Then I’d tell him to put the knife down, and we’d talk it out. But everything happened too fast. There was no time to think,” he added.
Saif’s six-year-old son, Taimur, was present when the attack happened. In a heartbreaking moment, he asked his father, “Are you going to die?” before accompanying him to the hospital. The emotional moment left a deep impact on Saif, but he assured his family that everything would be okay.
Investigation and Arrest
Mumbai Police quickly took charge of the case and arrested the attacker. The suspect, Shehzad, is a Bangladeshi national and is currently in custody. Authorities are trying to determine whether he was acting alone or had assistance.
The police are also investigating how he managed to enter the high-security apartment. They are checking CCTV footage and questioning security personnel to figure out if there was any negligence.
What’s Next for Saif?
Despite the horrifying experience, Saif is staying positive. He is focusing on his recovery and upcoming projects. He has also thanked fans for their support and well-wishes.
For now, he is taking things slow, spending time with his family, and looking forward to getting back to work soon.
