Saif Ali Khan Stabbed at His Bandra Apartment; Attacker Hid in Garden for Hours
Last week, Bollywood actor Saif Ali Khan was attacked inside his apartment in Bandra during an attempted burglary. The shocking incident happened on January 16 and left the actor with multiple stab wounds. He underwent a five-hour surgery at Lilavati Hospital and is now recovering well, doctors said.
According to the police, the attacker, identified as Shariful Islam Shehzad Mohammad Rohilla Amin Fakir, managed to hide in the garden of Saif’s building, Satguru Sharan, for two hours after the crime. Initially, he pretended to be Vijay Das, a resident of Kolkata, to mislead investigators. However, the police were quick to uncover his real identity and his Bangladeshi nationality.
A Botched Robbery
The 30-year-old accused broke into Saif Ali Khan’s apartment in search of money. Investigators are still trying to figure out if he specifically targeted Saif’s home or randomly chose the building. The police haven’t confirmed whether the attacker knew the actor lived there.
After the stabbing, Saif’s son, Ibrahim Ali Khan, had to rush him to the hospital in an autorickshaw, as the situation was critical. A source said, “There was so much panic that they couldn’t wait for an ambulance.”
The Hunt for the Attacker
Shariful managed to flee the scene after hiding for hours in the garden. CCTV footage later showed him near Bandra’s Linking Road, which helped the police track him down. He was arrested in Thane three days later.
During questioning, Shariful initially stuck to his fake story, claiming he was from Kolkata. But when the police asked him for proof, he couldn’t provide any. To verify his identity, the police made him call his brother in Bangladesh. His brother sent a school leaving certificate, which confirmed his real name and nationality.
The certificate, sent via Shariful’s mobile phone, has become crucial evidence for the case. It proves that he is not from India, as he claimed. The police also said they would recreate the crime scene at Saif’s residence to better understand how the events unfolded.
Saif’s Recovery and Kareena’s Reaction
Saif Ali Khan, who is 54, is now out of danger. Fans and fellow Bollywood celebrities have been sending their prayers for his speedy recovery. His wife, Kareena Kapoor Khan, expressed her anger over the incident on social media. She also slammed paparazzi for trying to click pictures of their home after the attack, saying, “Leave us alone for God’s sake.”
What’s Next for the Case?
The accused is currently in police custody for five days. Authorities are working to piece together the sequence of events and gather more evidence.
This incident has raised serious questions about security in celebrity residences. Many fans are shocked and worried about how such an attack could happen in a high-profile area like Bandra.
For now, Saif’s family is focused on his recovery, and the police are doing everything they can to ensure justice is served.
